How to Update Java Version in Linux

Some time even after installation of latest version of JDK rpm still it shows old version. To use required version of Java in Linux follow below steps

Execute following commands in shell script:

JDK folder path: usually inside /usr/java (example: /usr/java/jdk1.6.34)


  • Creating jdk.sh file and copying JAVA_HOME to jdk.sh file


  • Adding JDK/bin to path and appending path to jdk.sh

  • Making jdk.sh as source file 

  • Test Java version using following command
